THERMAL AURICULAR THERAPY

History  The Hopi Ear Candle

Benefits and Effects  What to Expect

What To Expect During Your First Treatment

I will begin the session by taking a detailed medical history, followed with questions about your lifestyle, your diet and your health problems.  You will lie comfortably, first on your left side and listen to relaxing music with your head supported on a pillow so that the lit candle can be placed gently into the outer ear passage of your right ear and turned gently to seal it in place.

(You will be fully dressed but I will ask you to remove any makeup and jewellery before the treatment starts.)

The candle will be held upright and steady as the candle burns down to prevent any ash residue (if any) falling onto you.   The candle works by causing a light suction action (chimney effect) drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed.   The movement of the flame helps to create a vibration of air in the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum.   Once the candle has burnt down to its safety mark it will be removed and you will need to turn to your right side to enable me to treat your left ear.

Secretion flow (drainage of the frontal and paranasal sinuses), is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits.   The majority of these deposits are carried away through the candle ‘chimney’, but some of them may be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or even work their way up to the external ear passage between 24-48 hours after treatment.   The treatment induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses and most of my clients fall asleep during treatment.

The treatment will be completed with a beneficial relaxing face massage to enhance the healing process.

The first session will last for approximately 60 minutes, including the pre-treatment consultation, but subsequent sessions will take between 30-45 minutes.
