AROMATHERAPY

History  What is Aromatherapy?

How does it work?  What to Expect

What to Expect During Your First Treatment.

Aromatherapy is found to be more beneficial when used to treat the whole person and not just the physical condition, within an holistic framework, in order to maintain a balance of mental, physical and spiritual health.

The session will begin by the therapist taking a detailed medical history, followed with questions about your lifestyle, your diet and your health problems.  (Occasionally, it may be found during the consultation that there are contraindications to aromatherapy massage, for example, if the client is recovering from surgery, is in the first months of pregnancy, or has deep vein thrombosis.  This is not a definitive list there are other conditions where it is inadvisable to carry out aromatherapy treatment.)

A synergistic blend of essential oils will be created specially for the client’s specific condition(s) and blended with a carrier oil.    During the massage, the client’s body will be fully covered with towels except for the area that is being treated, and the head.   To complete the experience, the music, temperature and lighting levels will be adjusted to suit the client.

The first session could last up to two hours, including the pre-treatment consultant, but subsequent treatments will take approximately 75 minutes.     For long-term, (chronic) conditions, the therapist may recommend a series of treatments of one treatment a week for a few weeks, then follow-ups two to four weeks later.

The therapist can also provide advice and tailor products to the client’s individual needs to enhance and continue the treatment at home.
